Surely food is something very special and important to you, isn’t it?

During my college days, eating food offered by the hostel proved terrible for my taste buds! When I started working, I deliberately moved to an apartment with some of my friends so that I could cook for myself and give relief to my tastebuds.

So, at first, I did this as a necessity of survival. But, after a while, something wonderful happened. I started to love to cook. I started to enjoy every time I had to cook, at least for myself. And after a long time of cooking out of necessity, I discovered my passion for preparing delicious food for me and my family. I improvised a lot when I had to cook; I searched on the internet for new recipes, and I used to call my mom to ask for traditional recipes because I missed my mother’s food. In this way, I improved my cooking skills and nowadays I can cook almost everything.

I love cooking because1:

1. It’s fun
It gives me a chance to be creative and indulge in some playtime – something we adults could do with a lot more of. I adore losing myself in the rituals of chopping, stirring, and tasting.

2. It’s delicious
When you’re cooking you get to choose what you make and what goes into each dish. You also get to choose the quality of the ingredients. So, it’s easy to make things that you are fond of.

Love spicy, sharp, and acidic flavours? Then add a mixture of different exotic spices and masalas or a squeeze of lemon. It gives me a chance to choose my tasty adventure.

3. It’s good for your body
The more I learn about nutrition the more I have realized that the most important factor for healthy eating is to avoid processed food and focus on using real ingredients.

And the best way to do this? Cook for yourself as much as you can.

4. The praise!
Hearing the words ‘this is amazing’ are a huge motivator for me to keep spending time in the kitchen and cook something delicious.

So, my passion for cooking allows me to nurture my family and friends, to express my love, and take care of them.
